Want to Become an Official?

If you are interested in becoming a basketball official in the Lubbock Chapter you are in the right place. We are always looking for new people willing to work and learn but also have fun. So what all do I have to do to become an official? Well, there are a few things:

  • Fill out a local application

  • Pay local dues

    • New Officials: $40 (NEVER officiated before)

    • Reinstatement: $65 before June 30th, $90 starting July 1st. (Rejoining LBOC, NOT a member the previous season)

    • Dual: $65 before June 30th, $90 starting July 1st. (In more than one chapter)

    • Transfer: $65 (Moved from another chapter)

  • Register and pay state (THSBOA) dues online

    • New Officials: $60 (NEVER officiated before)​

    • Reinstatement: $60 before June 30th, $90 starting July 1st

    • Dual: $60 before June 30th, $90 starting July 1st

    • Transfer: $60 before June 30th, $90 starting Just 1st

  • Pass a rules test online

  • Pass a mechanics test (2 or 3 person) online

  • Buy a uniform about $175

  • Attend a Rules Clinic (mandatory)

  • Go to training (not mandatory, recommended)
